¡°Championing Innovation and Sustainability¡±
The meeting is intended to bring the current and other potential Water Champion Cities together to gather and discuss the achievements accomplished to date, as well as to support initiatives and suggest new approaches and innovations over the coming two years.
As a result of the meeting the cities will define the working plans and future actions to strengthen local authorities in developing countries and the further dissemination of the Istanbul Water Consensus, with the 6th World Water Forum as a target event deadline for the presentation of results.
The meeting will be held during 2 days (12th and 13th August 2010) in 3 sessions.
The first 2 sessions will consist of the presentation of current projects and case studies in developing countries where the WCC could share their experience and knowledge on water solutions. This will lead to a space where the cities can work in groups for the better understanding and discussion of issues and solutions.
Topics to focus on :
  ¤ıRisk Reduction
¤ıQuality of Life
¤ıGovernance
The final session will be shaped by a discussion on building partnerships and to the agreement of
the future action plan.

The objective of the meeting is to report on the activities in progress after the Incheon Water Declaration commitment made during the WCWF 2009 in Incheon, Korea, as well as to discuss on the future direction and expansion activities of the IWD.
The meeting intends to bring together city leaders, government officials, and international organizations to discuss on 6 specific topics drawn from the Incheon Water Declaration objectives :
  1. Infrastructure and Technology : Eco-efficient water infrastructure systems.
2. Management : To achieve sustainable water management of rainwater, groundwater and river basins.
3. Climate Change : To increase the adaptation and resilience of our cities in the face of climate change.
4. Disaster Prevention : To reduce the impacts of water-related disasters.
5. Collaboration within the cities : To promote the collaboration of all government agencies and
departments within our span.
6. Contribution to other cities : To contribute best practices to our global neighbors to ensure
adaptation to the changing climate.

The objective of this session is to discuss and finalize the Chapter on Human Settlements for the World Water Development Report 4, which will be released during the World Water Week in 2012.

 
In addition, the workshop will also cove :
  ¤ıAn overview of the publication of the WWDR4 (UN-HABITAT)
¤ıPresentations of case studies from contributors
¤ıRoundtable discussion

The water business will be conducted over 3 days, where the objective is to establish networking contacts within the water business as well as with city officials attending the Urban Water Symposium.

 
Day 1 : Proposals from Water Industry for IFEZ Songdo (10th Aug)
  ¤ıThe presentations will be from CEO's to IMC and Mayor of Incheon
¤ıAs a result, IMC will produce a report to be presented to the new Mayor of Incheon to select
  some projects for his city plans :
 
  - Finalize with a discussion
- Participation by invitation only
Day 2 : Water Business program - City Officials present to CEO (11th Aug)
  ¤ıCity officials will present business opportunities in their respective cities/countries
¤ıPotential collaboration opportunities between the water business and the cities officials and
  their agencies
Day 3 : Future Directions of Water Industry in Urban Water Mgt. (12th Aug)
  ¤ıFocus on the following 5 topics :
 
  - Flood Prevention
- Water Treatment
- Ecologic Rivers (Restoration)
- U-Water (Ubiquitous Water: Drinking and Waste Water)
- Desalination

The objective of HydroAsia is to promote, in a global Asian vision, the key concepts, methodologies, tools and good practices which are essential for a sustainable water management. Today, problems related to water have become more and more complex and the analysis requires global and holistic approaches.
The collaboration of the five universities, based on the use of the internet as a common working platform, aims to establish and share high quality teaching courses, and furthermore to strengthen links between students from the partner institutions in order to build up and spread the know-how of a sustainable water management in Asia.
